street installation, framed photo of original street tag, sourced furniture, rug, lamp, flowers
I saw this tag "Black Folk Used 2 Live Here" painted on an abandon house in my neighborhood and snapped a picture of it. Only a few days later I was walking passed the same house and saw that the tag had been painted over - erasing it.
I was really worried that no one would see what was written. I worry about being the only person who ever saw something or had a record of something. I printed out the photo, hung it, and installed a living room set for people to be able to sit and look at the picture. It was an homage to the original writer and family living in that house.
My friend who lives nearby has the photo hanging in their house so we know that people will see it and see what the original writer wanted people to know: Black Folk Used 2 Live Here.
