ALI RUFRANO-RUFFNER, currently based in Brooklyn, creates sculptures, installations, and public art. Their practice is dedicated to a culture of revolution, focused on creating art and sculpture that helps us radically imagine worlds where we can really, really care about each other. This year, RUFRANO-RUFFNER is collaborating with the Metro Transit Authority to build Concrete Jungle (NY,NY), an installation that will creatively reimagine a dilapidated retail site at The 81st Street–Museum of Natural History station in one of the most trafficked subway stations in NYC.

In 2023, RUFRANO-RUFFNER worked as a mural artist on The Climate Justice in Lenapehoking mural (Philadelphia). Four hundred feet long and three years in the making, this immense work of public art grapples with centuries of environmental harms and injustices, while also manifesting local and regional solutions to inspire hope for a more just future. RUFRANO-RUFFNER built sculptures for the internationally recognized project Otherworld (Philadelphia), which has been recognized as USA Today’s ‘10 Best New Attractions’. In 2022, she received a RADical ImPAct Grant to develop long-term engagement with students to build A Monument to Pittsburgh Youth (Pittsburgh). The permanent commission uses castings of the students' own hands and ceramic tiles with street-art inspired signatures of the participants to create a sculptural installation framed by the park trails. An elevation of the voices of this community's youth, the monument was envisioned as a place for activity, socialization, and rest.

She holds a M.Ed in Art Education and Community Arts Practices from Tyler School of Art + Architecture, and a BFA in Sculpture and a BA in Gender Studies with a concentration in Violence Prevention from the University of Delaware.

RUFRANO-RUFFNER currently works as a teaching artist at the Brooklyn Museum and an artist member at Vox Populi. She continues to work towards her goals of creating equitable public art that actualizes the imaginary practices within all of us.
